Agoras

The agora (romanized: agorá, meaning "market" in Modern Greek) was a central public space in ancient Greek city-states. It is the best representation of a city-state's response to accommodate the social and political order of the polis. The literal meaning of the word "agora" is "gathering place" or "assembly".

The agora was the center of the athletic, artistic, business, social, spiritual, and political life in the city. [Source:  Wikipedia (don't judge! :)  ]

The Board of Directors of SANDAG selected a new Executive Director to guide the agency as it embarks on a set of ambitious projects.

Mario Orso, the prior Chief Deputy Director of the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 11, now  takes the reins at the embattled agency.

SANDAG is the regional Metropolitan Planning Organization for San Diego county. As Executive Director, Orso will oversee a budget of about $1.3 BILLION for the FY 2025 annual budget

The entity has faced increasing scrutiny over a historic lack of transparency, particularly around fiscal revelations, including the 2016 TransNet scandal and more recently the State Route 125 tolling scandal

The former Executive Director, Hasan Ikhrata, advocated for a grandiose $163 Billion ''5 Big Moves' "visionary plan".

Orso's likely first focus will be on two projects:  completing the Otay Mesa East port of entry, and moving the tracks from the crumbling Del Mar bluffs, a project known as the LOSSAN corridor (Los Angeles-San Diego) connection.
